WIB Committee members hosted a picnic at the Lake Park for the residents of the CALL Program, Creative Alternative for Learning & Living. The group enjoyed lunch under the shade of the park and played piñata to everyone’s delight. Atascadero Chamber of Commerce Women in Business adopted the CALL program as their non-profit to support for the first half of 2010.

 
Tom Lewis and Jim Wilkins presented the Women in Business luncheon guests to a historical view of Atascadero. The WIB group enjoyed lunch provided by Colby Jack Café served in the backyard of the Historical Society Museum which can be rented for functions.The Women in Business group at the luncheon in the backyard of the Historical Society Museum.
Women in Business Provide Education Scholarships to Deserving Women
This year Atascadero Chamber Women in Business is fortunate enough to be able to contribute three scholarships in the amount of $500 each towards the future educations of three deserving applicants. Each of the recipients is highly recommended by their supervisors, teachers and peers. 

Michelle Phillips is a 2010 graduate of Atascadero High.  She is planning to go to San Francisco State University starting in the fall semester where she plans to study Environmental studies and hopes to have a career in Urban Planning.  Michelle hopes to be involved with the management of pollution and to promote positive ways for people to help the environment.

Kristin MacBride is a 2010 graduate of Atascadero High.  She is planning to attend San Diego State University in the fall where she will be studying International Business with an emphasis on Communications.  With an interest in global issues and cultures Kristen hopes to have a career that unites people bringing economic independence with communities. 
 
Dustie Kaczmarek is a single mother of three girls that has, through hard work and determination, worked her way to Executive Director of the Call Program.  Dustie is now taking the next step by going back to school to earn her degree.  She is attending an online course through the Kaplan University where she is studying Business Administration.  

Women in Business Wind Up the Summer With a Networking Lunch
The Women in Business August 13th luncheon will be held at The Pavilion on the Lake and catered by Pacific Harvest Catering.  Guest Speaker will be Leticia Gomez of First Class Cleaning followed by a business s spotlight by Carly Bland of Atascadero Phone & Wireless and Personal Spotlight by Cynthia Garcia of United Staffing.

The cost of the lunch is $20 for Atascadero Chamber members and $25 for non-members. Reservations, payment or cancellation must be received by the Chamber office, noon, Tuesday, August 10th. Part of the proceeds from the lunch fee assists in building the education scholarship fund.
